What the program is

Good Samaritan Outreach (“GSO”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating the Thrive Program in McAlester, Oklahoma, offers a free text message reminder service to adults enrolled in the Thrive Program. If a client opts in, GSO sends an SMS reminder to their mobile phone about one hour before each appointment on their GSO weekly schedule, stating the appointment time and, where helpful, the location.

  • Who it is for: adult clients enrolled in the GSO Thrive Program who have opted in.
  • What triggers a message: an upcoming appointment on the client’s GSO schedule, about one hour before it starts.
  • Message type: transactional appointment reminders only. No marketing or promotional messages are ever sent.
  • Frequency: varies with each client’s schedule — typically 0 to 10 messages per week.
  • Cost: GSO does not charge for the program. Message and data rates may apply, depending on the client’s mobile carrier and plan.

How clients opt in

Opt-in is collected in person, never through advertising or a purchased list. During intake or a later meeting, a GSO staff member reviews the program with the client and the client either signs the paper consent form below or gives verbal consent that the staff member records in GSO’s client database along with the date, the staff member’s name, and the phone number. Consent is not a condition of receiving any GSO service.

“I agree to receive appointment reminder text messages from Good Samaritan Outreach (GSO Thrive) at the phone number on file. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any service.”
